Default Aftermarket Help!!

I'm a true n00b and you will know since I'm posting this, but I want to modify my 2000 GS400 and I need help, what do you guys think I should do first, etc. Any websites where I can find good aftermarket parts? What about the small things? engine modifications and such that most people don't look at. ALL suggestions would help, I'm going for looks mostly, and I would like to go turbo after I get the cosmetics done...

so what do you guys think? and do you have good pictures? I went to the gallery and saw some good ones but some weren't that helpful.

I was thinking ::

Tail light:
430 model
Intake:
SRT
Exhaust
Bodykit:
New paint job:
3M Clear Bra
Clear Coat
Body repairs:
Dents
Scratches
Clear Coat
Limo tint
System:
DVD's / TV's
Amplifier
Subwoofers
Custom Box
Digital Cap.
Yellow Top Battery
Wiring
Navigation Conversion Kit
Rims:
(19") Deep dish
Tires
Sway / Strut bars
Suspension
Clear Bumper Markers
Brakes:
Brake Pads
Cross/Drilled Rotors Front & Rear
Caliper Paint
Lexus Caliper Decals

other stuff i don't know a lot about?
Spark Plugs & Wires
Pulley
Belts & Hoses
Headers
Pistons
Throttle Body
Under Body

sorry if you guys think i'm stupid for posting this but not a lot of my friends know a lot about modding a Lexus so I thought I'd come to the pro's

Thanks in advance.

Narrow it down where do you want to start first?
Suspension, Engine, Body?

I have no true set budget, at the exact moment I have $4,000 to spend, but that's just to begin, I'll have money to do everything I want to this car.

As for narrowing it down, I was thinking these first:

Bodykit, Paint & Installation - I know a guy who owns a paint shop so I can get it a little cheaper.
Rims & Tires - My friend's a manager at a tire place so I get a discount there too.
Full System - Got another friend as a manager and I already own some system equipment.

and probably some other small accessories.

then I was thinking new paint job for the entire car minus bodykit, engine performance modifcations, and i'm not sure what else, i have so many ideas, but i'm so confused as to what will be best for my car

the spec's on my ride right now:

2000 Lexus GS400
Navigation
just barely over 80k miles
Black
Certified from Lexus

well a great website is www.l-tunedparts.com

plenty of ways to blow that $4,000

what bodykits do you like ?

do you mind FG or prefer POLY (fiberglass and polyurethane )

between kit and paint that could be close to 4 G's

wheels and tires could be another 4G's depending on size and company

then there's coilovers BBK(big brake kit)

plent of ways to spend

take your time and ask questions and use the search button

good luck

I don't mind FG but if i could find a good POLY one, i'd prolly go for POLY

paint for my kit will only run me 500 good thing my friend's dad owns a paint shop

tires and **** i'm not sure
the system should only run me around 1500

Basically, there are tons of things you can go for. But I think it narrows down to two different styles of the GS, VIP or sporty/performance monster.

VIP basically ends up getting 20's, a tasty kit (something like the junction produce kit) or custom kits. Then you end up doing all the system mods and electronics in the car. Air suspension, tints, HIDs. you should know the drill.

making a GS into a street monster. simply put into two words,.. forced induction. Then you got the torque converter, LSD, swyas, coilovers, strut bars, exhaust. etc.

members have spent different amounts of money on their own cars. I personally purchased the car already modded from a fellow member, but i've got a few plans ahead.

as for ebay, i think it's fine as long as you know what you're buying. make sure you ask around before you purchase it to make sure it fits and it isn't crap.

as for the websites, you could look at our CL sponsors. click the "Advertisers Index" button below the ad in the banner above. you'll get a couple of subs including aftermakret sponsors, and resellers and stuff.

you can also call steve ganz at carson toyota. He basically has all the TRD stuff. Pretty much everything at l-tunedparts.com.

look around CL some more and you'll find other things.

If money isnt an issue right now I would say FI!!!! plus that gets you the TC.

If 4K is really what you have to start with then I would go this route.

Coilovers
Wheels
Sways
TC
LSD
Lip or kit
Electronics

But thats just me as you can see I am a peformance first guy, other things may be more important to you.

If $4k is your budget right now, I would order wheels and then save up like crazy and before the wheels come in get a nice set of coilovers That way you can lower the car before you put the wheels on. I would do this before the bodykit, even if you have a hookup at the body shop. Then I would do the body kit and after that its up to you. You could do a nice bbk or a nice system. Depends on where you want to take it. Good luck with the mods

how come everyone is thinkin' rims will run me 4k? lol

i found good rims, 19" that'll cost me 1300, plus the tires, my homeboy can hook up, altogether shouldn't cost me more than 2k, and for suspension, i can get a nice kit for around a 1k

so i'm up to 3k, got one left over, should i just get a system? do a body kit a little later?

i need my whole car repainted, my front bumper is a piece of **** with all the rock chips since it didn't come with a clear bra and i live in CO.

well, i guess sometimes "you get what you pay for" is true. all the quality stuff (volks, works, hre, iforged, etc...) out there the 19s they are all at lest 2k or 3k, so i think putting around 4k for a set of nice branded wheels with tires aren't susprising, at lesat to me

but whatever float your boat of course
