most likely it is an error; or the owner prob. does not even know...may be someone told him he has the nak...or could be he has the factory nak, and installed an aftermarket nav himself.

or the owner thought the PREMIUM audio he has is the Nakamichi. Most likely he wouldn't make a mistake if there's a NAV SCREEN in front of him. Or maybe like what Will said, aftermarket NAV.

Default NAKAMICHI OR NAVI.....WHICH IS BETTER?

Just to take a poll, which would ya'll rather have: the Nakamichi Sound System or the Navigation Option? If a GS400 has the Navi on it, what's the specs for the "Premium" Sound System? Is there still a subwoofer?

Why couldn't lexus have them both as options?

I think that the Nakamichi head unit won't fit with the big Navi screen, hence the lower grade audio system.......

But still......who would prefer the Nakamichi over the Navi and Vice Versa?

Premium audio with NAV is just the stock GS audio system, still has a sub.

Not that it won't fit, Lexus just didn't think far enough about combining both until the 2001 models with NAV + ML.

I would take NAV over Nakamichi because factory is the only way you can have an integrated NAV system. Audio you can worry about later.

Yea that'll work but you won' t have an integrated monitor that controls everything (to some it doesnt' matter), and you won't get touchscreen (unless you settle for a bad Kenwood monitor.)

glove box.

It's pretty much the same audio system with the Premium package. Practically every GS has at least the premium package, unless you special order one (no leather seats?!?)

So about every GS has the premium sound system.

Default Sound upgrade..?

Since the NAV models did not come with the NAK stereo, beyond upgrading the speakers, is there any way to install a better (after-market?) sound system in the GS? Given, of course, that your GS has the NAV screen installed..

um.......

better speakers? (more speakers?)
better amp? (more amps?)
better wires?

better CD changer
lotsa EQ controls and crossovers and all sorta things. They key is not changing the headunit.

Consult audio gurus like Percy in the audio section. I think the quality can get VERY GOOD even without touching the NAV headunit. (I hope.)
