How much did they charge you? Was this for the key cut already? What was left to do reprogram it and your set?

IF you lose all of your keys, and your car is in the garage, then you can use your VIN number, have the dealer cut you one so you can place the car in neutral, back it out of the garage, tow it to the dealer, and have them replace the ECM.
Lexus has been known to replace the computer for free per vehicle life, but you have to pay for the keys and installation.
So dont sweat it

While we're on the keys topic, I'm going to order this from Sewell:
Basically it's a blank and uncut. You have to supply your vin so they can cut:

My guy, $100 for the key, cut and programmed. And free ECM reflash. Now I am guaranteed that I am the only one with keys for my car.
Oh and by the way, Lexus states that if you loose all of your keys, it will be $2500 for a ECM replacement/reflash. Well at least that is the crap they were feeding me when I told them I am not interested in their services.

On certain models, the $2500 price is true if you go through Lexus. They HAVE to follow the Lexus protocol which is ECM replacement.
If you go the aftermarket route then you can get the ECM reflashed.

I've also heard that Toyota and Lexus stopped their free ECM replacement program at the end of 2004. I haven't seen that in writing so as of now it is only a rumor. They were having too many problems with used car dealerships getting replacement ECM's when the program wasn't meant for them.
But it doesn't hurt to call and ask. You would need to contact Toyota/Lexus Customer Care and arrange it with them first and they once you get a confirmation for service you can schedule the appt. with the dealer.

The ECM replacement program is live an well. But who wants to spend 500 bucks for that crap? I would really like for someone to post the reprogramming instructions. You would have helped me out a lot!
I still can't figure out how my valet key is doing everything that it's not supposed to!?!

Well, first you would need to buy an EEprom reader. Customized to do Toyota and Lexus reflashing that would cost you about $1200.00. (Will also do Honda/Acura IMMO box reflashing)
Then you remove the ECM and attach the probes from the reader to the IC900 chip. Then commence to resetting the value on the ECM.
Reinstall the ECM and then program in new keys.
What is your valet key doing that you don't think it should be doing? Is it an OEM key or aftermarket key? When you insert the valet key into the ignition how long does it take for the security light to go out. If it goes out immediately then it is programmed in as a master key. If it takes a second or two it is programmed in as a valet key.
Take care,
Tami

The only thing that I can't do with my "valet" Key is remotely lock/unlock and release the trunk. Otherwise, I can do everything else...It's my only key

He then could have added in the remaining keys you had.

Does it work in the glovebox/trunk? Does the security light go out immediately when you insert it in the ignition?
The important indicator is the security light. It may be a mechanical valet key but programmed in as a master key or it may be a mechanical master and be programmed in as a valet key. That is why you need to check the security light to determine what type of key it is electronically.
If it is an electronic master then you can program in more keys yourself.

Valet keys do not unlock glove boxes or trunks and they do not have buttons to unlock or open anything.
