I have a 2001 LX470 - my black key, when inserted, causes the security indicator to stop flashing, so I think that is a "registered master" BUT I've tried the instructions in tamicalhou's post #54 maybe 8 times and the new key still won't register (the security indicator keeps blinking long after 60 secs).
Is there anything different about the 2001 LX470? What am I doing wrong? Programming the key to remotely open all doors etc went OK first time...

Hey. I just got my 2001 GS300 from the auction, and like many other members have only the valet key. The key I currently have will start the car and open the doors (not the trunk though). I then ordered a blank key and transmitter from Ebay. I successfully programmed the remote and am able to lock/unlock and open the trunk. However, am unable to start the car. What do I need to do to fix this. I have tried the instruction you supplied on the forums with no avail.

I purchased a 2002 LX470 from an auction house that only came with a valet key. I ordered a master key from Sewell. Does the ECU have to be replaced on they year/model? Should I take it to the dealer or call a locksmith to reflash just in case? I hope Tami is there with the answers.

I have a 1998 GS300.
Found this searching...
1. Open driver's door, keep it open and in the unlocked position. All other doors should be closed and locked.
2. Put original master key in ignition and pull out. This is the only step which requires the original key.
3. Lock and Unlock the driver's door 5 times, using the manual lock, NOT the power lock. Complete each lock/unlock
cycle within 1 second and the entire process in 40 seconds or less.
4. Close the door and open the door
5. Lock and unlock the driver's door another 5 times. Complete each lock/unlock cycle within 1 second and entire
process in 40 seconds or less.
6. Put the new master key in the ignition, turn it to "on" and then "off" (with 1 second) and remove from the
ignition
7. Press and hold transmitter LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously for at least 1.5 seconds,
and then within 3 seconds, press Lock or Unlock for at least 1 second
8. If within 3 seconds, door locks cycle one time, new transmitter code was accepted. If door locks cycle 2 times,
new transmitter code was not accepted. If code was not accepted, retry step 7.

In step #7: you DO NOT HOLD the lock/unlock buttons 'for at least 1.5 secs'.... after trying it 10 times and getting the 2 cycles=code not accepted each time, I compared this step to that in the 'zip' file elsewhere in these threads, which is a pdf of the Lexus service manual, and found that the zip file says only to 'simultaneously press and release the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons'.... making no mention of 'hold for at least 1.5 secs.' When I re-performed the procedure, and just pressed the 2 buttons momentarily, the new code was accepted 1st try!

I'll give this a try today however I'm not sure if this will work for me. I recently replaced my body ECU #1 located behind the passenger side fuse box, now my remote on my key no longer functions. I think the key needs to be programmed tot he body ecu #1, do I need the dealer to do this? My tech Rick has the Mastertech dealer scanner so I might try to see if he can program my key if this doesn't work. The only problem is there are no instructions anywhere that I can find on how to do that with the Mastertech MTS unit
