I've been thinking about this for a while. I've looked at the other grills out there and none seem to fit my car's image. The stock grill kind of looks out of place with my black, lowered, tinted, and overall meaner car. It's like an angry stock car now. Anyway, I was thinking that maybe painting everything on the grill -- the slats and surrounding chrome -- factory black. Just the logo would remain chrome. What do yall think? Are there any technical concerns I'm not aware of? Can the grill emblem be removed and re-attached? I'd have this done while fixing an oopsie I made on my back bumper, so the additional cost should be minimal.
It looks like this pic has a painted grill:
Thanks,
Brian

Brian, wouldn't you think having the grill lines going horizontally across like (rod millen, l-tuned grill) would look meaner as in terms of the stocked grill lines going vertically?
thats how i see it IMO.

I liked the way the 19" looked on your car. I debated getting those for a long time...but need to see them on someone elses car...

What kind of paint did you use to paint it black? Did you paint the entire grill or just the chrome frame? Did you do any prep work before painting? Thanks for any info- I want to do this...

GS400TRD,
Your grill looks good. How did you paint it? How is it holding up? Can that emblem be removed?
Biggie,
I really don't want too much Bling. And I just can't see the RMM or TRD on my mostly stock car (not that I'm saying it's bling). But the half-chrome stock grill looks a little too conservative. I guess the look I'm going for is 'Stock+'.

took the grill out took off the chrome emblem. It is easy!I used high gloss high heat spray paint. that is it. For best results use a dark primer...and use 2 coats I let the first coat dry for like 30 minutes. make sure you paint the sides of the grill too. DONT over spray!
there was actually 3 coats...the first time around I was careful to mask off the chrome...then after seeing how awesome the black looked I said F*** it and painted the whole grill.
I FORGOT ONE DIRECTION:
I SPRAYED The grill with brake cleaner before I painted it. waited about 2 hours to dry

Cool, thanks for the advice GS400TRD. Do you think it would look cool with factory black paint? I ask because the factory black would be more glossy versus yours, which looks more matte.
Thanks,
Brian
