A sneak preview of things to come...
Some of you guys know my car has been M.I.A. for quite a while (a little over 2 months to be exact) and it has been sitting at the audio shop getting a lot of stuff done to it. It started because I blew up my old subs....well the rest is history....
Anyway, we have been testing the new black marble paint from my bodyshop and they used that paint scheme on my sub enclosure. I got the stuff back today and I had a little time to visit the audio shop and they were in the middle of installing everything back. I am hoping to get the car back on the street sometime next week....
So, without further ado, here's some sneak pics.... (all pics taken with my crappy phone cam)
Close up on the black marble:
Here's a real dark pic of what the trunk should end up looking.....(not sure if I am keeping the chrome spider sub covers...)
Here's a nifty little thing that we did. I got the idea from the dude over at the IS300 forum. However, we went one step further and had the LED shooting at a clear piece of acrylic moulded the same exact shape as the indentation in the door handle. This is to get an even light all across the hole instead of a pointed light source. The blue LED is only for testing. We will be using white LEDs to match the rest of the white LEDs in the car....
Minus the acrylic piece....
With the acrylic piece in place....
Next week I will feature the whole completed audio plus all the misc. stuff that I have installed in the car, but for now, I can't contain my excitement and just have to share this first with you guys....

What else can I say Jon? You are one of the standards here on CL that a lot of us aspire to!
I think your car spends more time being modified than actually being driven and enjoyed! Too bad............

Looks great, Jon. Funny, I am also doing my "ambient lighting" bit in my GS... doing it to my MR2 as well.
(it's good to be an MECP certified installer- am am NOT scared of anything 12 volt!)
I would loose the spider sub covers... they were on there as a joke, right?
Hey, what about a mesh sub grille, Bentley style, like Strut makes for the 300C & Range Rover?
That might be cool... hmmm.... got me thinking...
