I know i ask a lot of questions but........
What's good folks quick question. Does anyone here use an ipod in there GS. The only reason I got an ipod is because I need a portable way to bring my computer song collection (over 6k songs) into my car. So the ipod seemed like the best way. The only thing is the fact that you have to use an FM transmitter to play your ipod through your radio, you get ******ty reception about 30% of the time. And on the weekends in NYC you have more underground stations playing so it's even worse. So basically is there anything other than the itrip and the monster fm transmitter to play your ipod through your speakers? i dont have an auxillary jack on my pioneer head unit so if anyone knows let me know it would be appreciated. THanks in advance.

Hey, I also use ipod when I 'm driving all the time.
After I bought my ipod, i didn't know which type of adapter i should get.
I was leaning toward FM transmitter type adapter like one you have since I didn't want wires running through if I use tape type adapter. But after I heard the FM transmitter adapter's sound quality, I just went to Best Buy and bought $20 Sony tape type adapter.
You do have wire running and it's ugly, but at least you get a constant sound quality and is better IMO.
The best sound quality would be if you put your ipod directly into auxilary jack as you know. People say that you gotta hear it to belive how good the sound quality is.
There are some aftermarket choices such as Alpine ipod adapter that lets you control your ipod through headunits. But you'll have to get Alpine headunit, just like you'll have to get same brand cd changer and headunit in order for it to work. They are pricey, but hey if you love music and your ipod I think it's worth it. (I'm planning to buy them pretty soon)
Lastly, Check out www.ipodlounge.com
This site is like ipod version of CL. It's got everything you need to know about ipod.
Hope it helped.

Another solution would be a hard wired FM modulator. It attaches to your antenna input and will be a much stronger signal than a transmitter. The only drawback is you'll have a wire coming from the back of your stereo that you'll have to plug into the Ipod. With some creative wiring (I was going to bring it through the back of the cup holder) you could make it look pretty clean.
Hope this helps. Good luck.

If you're looking for a budget option with better sound than FM, consider this:
Belkin IPod power/audio adapter + cassette adapter.
The adapter plugs in to the 12v plug in the center console, totally out of sight. It has its own line out and volume control, which means you only have to set it once and never touch it again--very nice. And It's easy to hide the casette adapter cable between the stereo and the center console.
Much higher fidelity than FM adapters. Not quite as nice as direct wiring, but it's way cheaper.
It's a resonably clean look...just not at this resolution.

When I first did it, I ran the tape cable along the seam below the stereo all the way to the left to provide enough slack so I could remove it.
Then I realized I haven't played a tape since 1998 and dedicated the tape player to my IPod.

I have an iPod in my GS, but mine is through a dLo device. It plugs into the lighter and charges the iPod while it plays through the radio. It works great in my car and it looks clean without any wires. I got mine at Best Buy for like $80 i think? Anyway, it fits for any size iPod and can go to any station you want to set it to. It also holds it up so you can see whats playing which i like. It barely touches the shifter when taking it out of park. you should give that a look too
