during the day, the DRL is the high beam running at the wattage... so the wedge is off. at night, the DRL/high beam is off but the wedge is on.. when u turn on ur high beams at night, the wedge remains lit...

Thanks for the clarification. So when your HID lights are on, are the wedges offer enhanced illumination or are they just for looks? What watt bulb and type are people using for the aftermarket wedge bulbs?

to add one more question to GSMan's list, what are the average life of these bulbs?
I've seen other threads stating 1 year for PIAA, and ~6 months for other types, how are the PIAA or Polargs compare to the stocks in terms of life?

I have had these on my car for at least 18 months...still going strong. no fires etc

Only thing...It is a pain in the A-- to get the driver side one in. Be careful not to break them when installing (ala Brian S who managed to break them several times) you need small hands. I scarped my knuckles and had a few contusions, but I wasn't going to give up so easily
