Im kinda new to this site, but not to cars. Im looking at a 2000 black on black GS300, with 93,000 miles. Carfax came back clean, except it had a 2 year gap in registration and about 50,000miles. At one point it was a lease vehicle then it was sold at auction, then 2 years elapsed after a dealer bought it from that auction and now its for sale here. The last odometer reading was 38,000miles in 2003. It was sold to a dealer in California, now its for sale in phoenix at an Acura dealer with 93,000 miles two years later. I havent even gone to see it yet, I wanted to get some opinions on it to see if its even worth looking at. they want $18,800 for it. not platinum edition or anything. bone stock. Any known problems with these? No navigation, Im not sure if it has NAK sound or not. any feedback would be helpfull! thanks

Welcome to CL.
I am just stating from the experience I learn and read here in CL:
For one thing, carfax CAN NOT be trusted regarding accidents b/c many members have run carfaxes and shows no accident when the car has been in an accident.
Lexus dealers have been known to sell cars that have been in accidents also, so your best bet is to ask them first, check all doors, body panels for the vehicles vin # sticker.
Since its 93k miles, it's the recommended major tune up regarding timing belts, etc......
So 2003 had 38,000,
now 2005 has 93,000
Roughly 25k miles per year. That's possible, of course freeway mileage.

they just dropped the price to $17,900 without me even asking....and with a trade I might be able to get it down to 16,000 or so. The gap is probably due to the dealer using it as a dealer car with dealer plates. Hence, no registration noted. I still wary of it though....so many choices...and cars seem to be cheaper in Cali than here

18800 was too high for a stock GS300 with that kind of mileage and history. 16000 sounds better but this car has a questionable history and still his fairly high mileage. I am sure the 90,000 service was not done and I would be doubtful if the dealer says it was with that odd carfax report. Since he keeps lowering the price he may be trying to get rid of it fast. That could mean there is a problem with that car like it was a salvage etc. If you can get a great deal on it I would have a qaulified Lexus tech look it over and maybe someone else just to be on the safe side. I would probrably walk away though, something does not sound right.
