Here is another option if you don't want to cut out the slats, and leave the grill 'somewhat' stock. These slats have been painted black, while maintaining the stock L location and appearance. Additionally, if you don't like it, I figure it wouldn't be too difficult to remove the paint from the chrome portion to go back to stock.

I hope this gives you another option/idea and doesn't confuse you more.

Real obvious aftermarket grill like abflung look good as you have a very agressive front. Is there also Netz (non mercedes copy )- the other two which also have slits like JP?....They seem sharper but have same look as JP?

Ok, found another pick of the DIY painted grill. This color is more appropriate for you Johnny. Anyway, good luck with the q45's, and if I were you that is where my focus would be.

I love that thread. I cannot believe it is not a Sticky. I just saw on there that the JP grill is $880 (but that was about a year ago). So you would be saving some money.

That grill looks nice, but it may be a mod for a stock grill. I was perusing the site and came across this:

http://www.eonet.ne.jp/~black-chromium/page018.html

It looks like a small manufacturing outfit which further make me think they might not be making the whole grill.

Assuming it can be done easily, it still may be worth while.

FYI Johnny I dont know if they changed it but I was looking at the same grill 2 years ago. ASk Robert about it {' ,'} You only get the center of the grill. You need to cut out the stock shell and glue the center in place.

I am really liking this grill here. It's nice and simple.

I agree, this why i thought the JP would have matched so well in the beginning with your front intercooler. the sideway slats flow perfect with the intercooler..
