The 01+ tails look 1000 times better. I just think they flow better with the car. The pre 01 are ugly and I had to get rid of them as soon as I bought my car. It was my first mod.

I think it completely depends on the look of the car or degree of modding your doing. If is will be stock----then 01 plus. Also depends which color. White and blue for example looks not so bad with the old ones as darker colors.... And different looks (ie w or w/o chrome trunk bar, etc, change the way it looks so the redded out old tails looks ok - ecspecially on a black car. Redding out....costs 5 bucks as opposed to spending 200- 300$???? on the new ones seems more worth it on other more worthy mods.

01+ definately. like Neo said the way they match up the inner trunk lamps is flawless, especially at night when braking or while haveing the lights on. They give the rear a more uniform look.. 
The JP's are cool tho..
