Hello,

I'm looking to get a Toyota 4 door, preferably a GS430 or an LS430 but I see no differences between them besides car size, room size and price differences. Does the 2005 LS430 motor come with a timing chain like the new GS's?

if you talk about the 04+ ls430, it's faster than the gs430 (01-05) coz' it has 6 speed tranny and different ecu.

if i were to choose, i would get 04+ ls430 over the gs430 coz' of its luxury, etc... i wont' get the 01-03 ls430 though, not worth it

in tersm of sportiness, the gs430 is quite a bit more sporty than the ls430 imho, suspension, steering, etc...

so it's more about what you want out of the car. don't just read spec, go drive. they are very different

how do you figure Henry? Even with the 6 sp, the LS is heavier and has 10 less HP than the GS430. I really doubt the LS is quicker. Lex website shows it .1 slower 0-60 and .2 slower in 1/4 mile. Also, LS is governed at 130mph, GS at 149mph top speed. I know their numbers fluctuate & aren't always exact, but the LS also weighs 300lbs more than GS. I'd bet on the GS anyday.

mk4umha-LS is a great plush car, but GS is definately sportier(and better looking IMO). You need to decide what you're looking for.

I would really go for a test drive in both of them if I were you I would get a GS the car is really fun to drive plus with a few mod's you'll be smoken down the streets

From what I see, You can get some great deals for the 05 LS430 now. It's a choice between more luxury or more sporty. Test drive them both & see what you prefer.

I'm 27, I'd like to get rims, suspension and exhaust for the LS430 but I dont see many aftermarket parts for this car. The GS on the other hand seems to have more aftermarket support. When will the new LS430 style come out?

well i remember with the 6 speed the ls430 shed from 6.2 to 5.9 on 0-60. i drove the 04 and 05 ls430 quite a few times on local and freeway with my wife, etc... at lesat from my buttometer it's faster than my gs4 (before mod of course)

290hp vs 300hp doesn't really mean much imho, a more aggressive ecu timing and maybe gear ratio and it's done already

yah but when you also factor in an extra 300 lbs.....

honestly, my butt-o-meter could not tell an acceleration difference between my GS and the 06 GS430 with the six speed I test drove.

I guess the bottom line is they are all real close.

I remmember being at the dealership and test driving a lexus ls with my brother who got the 06 gs awd and the ld we test drove was the 06 and it had the sport decal on it, I asked and they said it was upgraded ( im not sure if it was L-tuend ) but the car was like a bat out of hell, the suspension was almost as stiff as my gs-300 which is 99 and about to get the L-tuned suspension my self but the LS can be factory upgraded to give you that little edge toward getting sport and luxury at the same time.

Yeah, everybody knows that the LS with only 290hp is slow
