Default Newbie needs opinion on 99 GS400

Hey guys. I've been lurking on the forum for quite some time now, but this is my first post. I have been looking for a GS400 or 430 for about the past 6 months now, but haven't found what I was looking for, that is, at least until now. My neighbor is selling his 99 GS400 (I asked him about selling it when I first started looking, but he said it wasn't for sale). It has 65,000 miles, no accidents, a few scratches here and there but nothing very substantial. It has xenon headlights and the upgraded stereo (he said the name, and I don't remember it exactly, but it started with an N and sounded foreign), a spoiler and sport wheels. He has done all of the maintenance on the car at the dealership (so he says). Anyway, we have agreed on a price of $17,000. This seems like a good deal to me, particularly based on some of the not-so-nice cars I have seen out there, but I'd like to get everyone's thoughts before I commit. Thanks.

I just bought my wife a 99 GS 400 with 9,300 orignal miles on it and we paid $26,700 for her. This car is in excellent condition... I should say awesome condition, saw all the paper work as far as maintaince goes, wrote a check and bought it.... my wife and I love this car.

9,300 miles on a 99? That's incredible. Not to get off topic, but how did you find that?

$17,000 for that mileage is a great deal! and if you have another car, sell it so you can mod your gs400!! i bought my gs4 for $15,300 with 83K miles. that extra $1,700 youre spending is worth it, since the car has 18K less miles....(ie, 6 oil changes less of wear and tear). and if the owner has paperwork to prove maintenance, then more power to ya! good luck!

$17,000 sounds pretty good for a 99 GS400 with 65,000 as long as it is in very good shape. You could get one for less but knowing that your neighbor took very good care of it and did not abuse may be worth paying a little extra.

Even a car with low miles like 9300 you still got ripped off at $26,700 for a 99 GS400. You can get a 02 and possibly a 03 GS430 for that kind of money. I would say $18,500 would of been a fair price. It had to of been just sitting around in a garage with that kind of mileage and sometimes that can be more harmful since the parts are not getting the proper lubrication and fluids just sit and can sludge up.

That's right a 1999 GS 400 with 9,300 orignal miles. My wife's best friend family owns Tustin Lexus in Orange County California. This car was owned by a older gentleman who name is Ramos. Ever heard of the "TRW Corporation"? He's the "R" in the TRW. He has several cars, as one can imangine and traded this in on a new Lexus Hybird.

Saw the car with all the paper work.... bought it on the spot.... awesome car.... no regrets.

uh, you can't touch an 02 or 03 430 for those prices unless they are beat with super high miles.

good score on the 9300 mile GS4-I'll bet it's like new

Buy it!

I bought mine with NAK, 17" Chrome, Side Air Bags (was this an option?), Spoiler, Xenons... for 18K with 80K Miles in April 04... I think you are getting a great deal with that mileage...
