Messed up big time, lost 2nd Master Key

See this thread\ for key replacement from Sewell Lexus. They will cut the key with VIN provided. However the key is not OEM.

Don't you need an original master key to program a new replacement key to the car? Getting a key from Sewell would not help the original poster since he no longer has any master key.

yes that's correct, you need an original master key to make another master key, that's why without any master key you need a new computer

and yes, from what i heard lexus will do it once for every customer on the computer

Yes Neo. That is correct. He has to have an already programmed Master Key in order to add additional keys. Once you get down to the valet key you can no longer add in additional keys using a diagnostic tool or through On Board Programming, (OBP)

This only applies to vehicles with a 16bit ECM.

Crap, I got my hope up on that one... Thanks for all of the info guys. Now I need to see if it's better to have my dealer take care of me or to yank out my ECM (no idea how to do it) and go without my car for nearly a week...

imho i would just let dealer do the job, but that's me
