i think it costs quite a bit ~$150-200. my remote did not work too well even after battery replacement, so the dealer gave me new keys under warranty, and i asked them the price 2 years ago.

When I purchased my car in December '99, I was quoted in the $289 range if my memory serves me correctly

Default Price Quote

I got my key for $180 and an additional $20 for programming. This is full key (panic, automatic trunk, etc) not the spare key. So together u'r looking at $200.

Remember don't lose both Master Keys or it will cost you MUCH MUCH more.. A friend of mine lost both Master Keys for his RX and it cost him over 1,800 dollars to get 2 more keys and they had to change the engine emobilizer computer as well.. You can't program a replacement key (Valet included) without an original Master..

Anyways the price what Fusion quoted is accurate!

The master key is the one with the remote controls for the doors and trunk built into it.

The valet key does not have the remote on it and cannot open the trunk or glove box.

Unhappy DONT LOSE IT !

yes don't lose both keys or you will be in trouble !! I got quoted at $250 for a new master key. To get a copy of the key, they said they need my master key for a few days so they can ship it to mexico or peru, or some foreign country to have it made.

Lose both and they gotta go to your engine and take out the "brain" and put a new one in because they themeselves cannot start your car.

When I got my GS, I only had 2 keys, my master and a valet. The tech recommended either buying a second key, or converting the valet key into a master. It's a reasonable precaution even if you have 2 master keys already.

redgs,

You better go back to the dealer and demand the other master key. Both keys with remote functions are master keys, then there's the encoded valet key, and finally the wallet emergency key. ALL are included and they come from the factory with these keys. If you're missing a master, one of two possibilities.
A. The gs was used and the other key was lost by previous owner.
B. The dealer is ripping you off.

Also remember that if the other key is out there, anyone can just drive off with your car.
