Default Mixed Emotions about 100k...

Well it officially happened tonight on my way home. My car hit 100,000 miles. Now this is great and all as this is what i purchased my car for. Its not meant to be sitting in the garage collecting dust and losing money, but was purchased to be driven and driven a LOT. So I have mixed emotions about it. Everyone wants a car with low miles, but there is a certain stigma about a car thats over 100k that you just feel like something is just about to go bad. I know there is a memeber on CL with a GS that is over 300k with no major problems, but i feel weird. This car is supposed to last until im done with college and I have no doubts that it will... I dont know... so many thoughts...

I'd say just maintain it with TLC and you'll be good to go. Is there anything in particular you think is about to go, or just paranoid? You did the timing belt already, right?

mine is coming up on 90K miles, and Im prepping for that milestone servicing. I bought mine with 55k last year, and use it as my daily driver, so lot's of free way miles. Im not worried about the mileage, as I believe with the proper TLC as mentioned above, and servicing (and me driving like an old lady!!)..that the car will run forever. You should be okay...as long as you keep up the maintanence and service....

Just paranoid... Going to get it in for the 120k service soon... going to have the Timing belt done soon. I was wondering when that needed to be done as the service guy never told me. Come to find out it was 30k miles ago...

I have 105K on my odometer now and I am not worried about it at all! Toyota makes some of the best engines out there, and if it is well taken care of, the 4.0 V8 will last at least 300-400 thousand miles. The only thing you will have to eventually replace is some suspension and steering parts, which can be expensive but totally worth it to have such a great car.

Dude, its a LEXUS!!!!!!

i've got 110K on my 99 purchased brand new off the lot, and this things drives and performs just like new. It's been regularly maintained (by me) and nothing else compares to our aging capabilities. my wife has a 2000 530i and signs of wear and rough idles are already starting to show at 89K. We've got a true workhorse that will definately last the test of time. Just put in the dues and she'll keep ya happy.

Nothing to worry about Stage3!! You've got a Lexus.

definitely want to get the timing belt changed...also definitely get the front lower balljoints checked on the car as well...i've heard many mishaps with that part of the car with high mileage and i can't stress it more especially if you've lowered the car with 19" rims...at 100k i'd probably change all the fluids in the car if you haven't already (engine oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid, coolant)...change the sparkplugs and gas filter and might want to clean you A/C filter and check/clean your intake filter charger if you have one...can't think of anything else right now but maintenance should be a priority once you hit the high miles...even if its a Lexus!
