pic request...18s or 19s on stock susp.
I'm trying to decide what to do first, wheels or lowering. I only have money for one or the other for the summer, and the other will have to wait until next year. So does anyone have any pics of 18s or 19s on their car with stock ride height? I dont know what i want more, i like the stock wheels but theyre too small and much to narrow for the rear wheel wells which is the reason i want rims before lowering. thanks in advance,
george

Here is a pic of my old setup which I had for several months (19' with stock suspension).. I really dont recommend it! Also the ride was very very poor.
I have since thanks for Club Lexus done a total 360, and put on the chrome 16's that came with the car. Sold those 19's and am currently installing L-Tuned Shocks and Springs and hope to in several weeks buy either 18' or 19' Chrome Staggared rims

The stock height of the gs is already high. Putting 18 or 19 on will only add to the suv look. You would be better off lowering you car first then getting wheels later.

George,
Not too many folks have 18 or 19 inch wheels with stock ride height...
some other threads that may be helpful I found by using the search feature for '18s or 19s'. Try it next time

Well, I'm thinking of buying that Donz package from Derrick at D2.. I talked to him today and he said i should consider the 20'' staggard set-up instead of 19's.. I would look better but then I'm sacrificing ride quality and comfort.. I originally wanted 19x8 all around with 245 40 19. I beleive he said that its harder to get that tire size and for the price i might as well get 20's.. The car is not lowered so we are going to sit down and talk about what suspension to get and what I'm looking for...
This car is going to be driven everyday so 35 and 30 series tires in staggard set-up seem to small for me with no cushin? I don't want to be riding on the rim you know...
Also, Nos's car doesn't look to bad not lowered with the 19's.. Still looks ok.. From what i read around here Tein CS or l-tuned seem to be the best two choices to keep a quality ride height...

honestly i would get the rims first. Then you can worry about the ride height later. It would look kinda silly imho to have a lowered car on stock rims. Also, u might want to think about getting coil over suspension. I initially bought 18" rims, then got the l-tuned suspension. I didnt like the gap in the rear. I have a heavy sound system and it was loading the back down. I ended up buying the fully adjustable apex'i coil overs. WOW, wat a difference. I wouldnt trade those for the world. I spent a lot of money getting those ltuned struts/springs on, then removing them, then installing the coil overs.
ppl also get the tein flex coilovers.

I would definately lower the car if you are going to plus size wheels. I think it looks silly without it. It will have a huge wheel gap and that is just ugly imho. You can get a nice ltuned setup for a decent amount of money or you can go all out and get coilovers. I had eibach springs before and regretted wasting the money once I went to coilovers. I drive daily on 35 series tires and havent had any problems yet. I do drive carefully though and avoid potholes.

thanks for all the pics so far and the advice. NoS what tire size were those 19s you had on? I really cant decide what i could live without. those 5-spoke 18s dont look bad. 400DGRZ, Do you know what the tire size is on those? i have the ground effects which may help with making the car look lower. so do i live with wheel gap or stock wheels.....what a decision

I'm in the same boat man... I'm supposed to call Derrick from D2autosports and figure out what i want to do also... He said put the 20's on first to see how the car sits and then figure out how low you want to lower it... He seemed very knowledgable when it came to suspension and wheels.... I'm concerned about the ride and comfort and which suspension to go with Tein or l-luned.... I really only want to go about in 1 inch..
Hang in there and it will all come together the way we want it to.... I guess we just have to be patient.... but thats hard for me.... Good Luck...........Tony

I am in the same boat as several of you. I was leaning towards 18's and now towards 19's but Derrick suggests 20's and that I am not sure right now.

i see a bit of mix input here, but i will just state mine again. no matter if you get 18s, 19s, 19s with fat tires, or even 20s.... you NEED to DROP your car for sure. i don't know how the wheels look, the style, and whatever. without a drop the car will not look right. it will be out of ratio
