Warning...
Be really careful when pulling the coil packs...
The "boot" which extendes thru the valve cover had become "stuck" in the valve cover and tore when I attempted to turn the pack back and forth to loosen and remove it. At $90.00/each (and 8 required total) I am going to have to find a way to lubricate/loosen the seal created over time as this is going to increase my "plug replacement" significantly if I tear up any more of them.

Just got done replacing mine. It took me 2 hrs since im a total noob. Had to run to the store with an original spark plug just so the people working knew what i was talking about. But i bought the iridiums instead. They ran 8.99 each at Napa. The only problem i had is with that black box. Theres 5 total clamps that need to be loosened. 3 on the box and 2 on the intake. Thanks to this post i was able to figure it out.
** Be careful if this is your first DIY... You might break a nail or get cut up reaching into tight areas.

Just did my spark plugs but my front passenger side spark plug came out with some oil. My guess is tha the piston rings are bad but that's just a guess. Any ideas on the next steps that I should take? Thanks

I don't think its your piston rings, I think it's more like a valve guide. If it's not that bad I wouldn't sweat it. However you should do a compression test whenever you see this type of indicator.

I did my plugs this weekend and took a couple pics where the coils/plugs are located on a 430. Yes I understand it's nearly identical to a 400, but it's good for reference. First pic is the passenger side, with the air intake removed, and one of the coil packs out. Second is the drivers side, which was hard due to the tight space. Found it was easier to loosen the coil pack nut a bit first. Then with a pair of pliers to hold down the clip (being VERY careful NOT to damage the wires) and the other hand wiggles the wire harness off. these suckers were tight for me. once the wire harness where off it was straight forward. Took a little less than 3 hours, so yes I took my time with it, but it paid off in the end. What helped was the Gear Wrench 5/8 6 inch socket and of course anti-seize lube.

Where did the OP get the long deep spark plug socket? I haven't seen one of them. I was going to get a locking extension for mine, one where you have to push the lock to release the socket off the extension. Then you can't drop it down in the hole....
