I am buying 17x8 wheels. I planned on going with 245/45-17s . will that look good 8 inch wheel with a 245 tire? with the pot holes around here I wnat to be somewhat safe. would anyone have a picture of what that combination would look like? I am going with the Kumho tire, after looking at reviews, and what Ive heard here.

thanks
Mike

Mike,

245/45/17 on 17x8 would be perfect. have you also looked at the bridgeston RE730, Toyo-T1s and Dunlop sp5000? very good tyres for the price.

Default Tire size

Mike,

I am running 245-45-17 on my 17x8 OZ's. Pirelli P7000 Supersport, really good price at tirerack.com.

Since the tires are all pretty close, I will probably go with the Kumho's. They are $45 a piece cheaper than the Bridgestones. Plus the Bridgestones are not offered at Discounttiredirect, where I am getting my wheels at. They have the Kumho's for $105.

Thanks
Mike

Here's one for you. I previously had a 1996 300ZX TT with mods. I had 275/40/17 Pole Position 2 on 8.5 rims on the rear and 245/45/17 on the front. I sold the Z, kept the rims and tires, got a new centering ring and put them on the GS400. Tire Rack recommends only going to 265 on the rear but 275 fit and there is no rubbing. Car handles fine especially with new suspension mods. I think the GS screams for an 18 inch wheel but the wider rear tire looks aggressive also.
