Default Just bought my first Lexus GS300

Hi,

I am new to the Lexus crowd, sold the 97 Supra and civics, and got me a more practical car.
I just bought a 98 GS300 with about 149K miles. It is a very clean car, jade green.
Interior, body and paint are really clean. I am amazed by how the previous/first owner took good care of it. It still rides very smooth, transmission shifts like butter and the motor purrs like a kitten.

I have several things I need to fix and would love to learn how to go about fixing them:-
- Audio light is out, stereo/cd/tape/radio works great. I cannot see the screen at night, the green light is blown.
- car needs new brakes, rotors and tires
- passenger rear window does not respond to any controls. Is it bad actuator or is there a fuse?

I tried searching but cannot find anything. I plan to fix all these bugs, and enjoy the car for a while.

Welcome to the club.....go to lighting section regarding the green lighting from the radio....as for brakes/rotors/tires, it depends if you going to stick with OEM parts or not....im sure there are stock parts available in everyones garage...sitting around collecting dust....post up a WTB thread in the Classified section....and lastly, the rear window not responding could be a bad motor or fuse.

Pete: Thanks for the tip. I have ordered the LED bulbs from Lexus locally. The search tool takes some time getting used to. This forum is setup differently from other forums. It's gowing on me.

workaholic: thanks! Pics will be up later today.

joshoowa: I will remove the door panel and take a look inside.

LEXUS Kid: thanks! I like it here

You will love it here. Everyone is very helpful here and before you know it, you will have sunk about $10K in your car.

What LED's did you get from your local Lexus dealer? Got some pics of the bulbs?

Glad to be here. I am going to check if the 100K service was done to the car.

I put in the order online, they responded that the bulb's not available, got to buy the whole audio deal for ~$700.

I just called Carson Toyota, talked to Collin, placing order for floor mats $125shipped and some little stuff for the car.

Cool

Weicome to CL. You have made a very wise decision with the purchase of the 98GS3.

Good Luck with the minor repairs and enjoy your new ride.
