Default ran into another problem

well, I went to the dealership for an oil change, and a wheel alignment, I get a phone call an hour later, its the service consultant, he said they couldnt do the alignment due to having a shot rear wheel bearing on the driver side, and that I also needed a shim kit for the rear brakes, I asked how much it would cost, and he said... total 1225.00 installed with parts!
this is sad, my car is just draining me, everytime I get ready to do something, like a mod, something always pops up.

you guys think I should take it to a mechanic shop to get it done for a little less then half the price??

bro my suggestion is get a second independent opinion. i have never heard of anyone having to replac a rear wheel bearing on the gs unless it was involved in a spin accident or you hit a curb or a really big nyc type pothole.

if it really does not changing all that is involved is removing all arms to the axle carrier and removing the hub nut for the drive axle and bringing to a machine shop to press out bearing and press new one in , i know this for i had to replace my axle carrier in my old ls400 i used to have due to bad bushings which were a integral part of the axle carrier

are you sure they are not saying you have a bad bushing vs bearing??

yeah , I'm sure its the rear wheel bearing, he gave me a written estimate on it, this is what is says on it,

left side rear wheel bearing,
hub,
sheild,

rear fit and shim kit,

but im getting ready to take my car to a mechanic and have them also check it out.

thanks for the info on that though.
