If you get moisture inside then the problem wont go away by just opening them up and resealing. When you say old and dull, do you mean the lense? it might need to be sanded down and buffed out. To fix the moisture problem you need to remove the headlights and check all the ventelation ports. Insde they have sponge absorbers, so you need to replace them if they are old and worn out. If they are all fine then look for cracks and leaks. Are you headlights halogen? if you are planing on opening them up and paintign them you might as well do a retrofit. If they are HID already then you can paint them any color you want, just make sure to remove all the reflective surface paint before you paint them and cleant he surface with aceton. If you are still going to go through with this then let me know and I will give you step by step instructions.

I dont think that I have any cracks or leaks ...but what would happen if I were to block the ventelation holes so that no moisture gets in?

please let me know what to do to shine these bad boys up!

Well if you block the ventilation ports you will effectivly stop the ventilation inside, which is not a good idea since they get very hot in there. To re do the lenses you have to first sand them down with 800 grit sand paper, after that move on to 1500 grit sand paper, and after that 2000grit. Make sure you take about an hour on each headlight, after sanding it down with 2000grt the lense should feel very very smooth and with water on it, it should be pretty clear. After that you need to get buffer 6-8 inch and 3m swurl mark remover. Then do about 4 coats of the swurl mark remover on the headlight, the trick is not to let any of it dry otherwise it will haze, so buff it all out, evenly over all the lense.

if you don't want to mess with this, you can always order new housings and swop all your parts over to the new housings. carson toyota can get the parts easily.

but that defeats the purpose of DIY'ing and getting nothing but enjoyment from seeing the difference EVERY time you look at your car

agreed, but sometimes it's not worth the extra time and effort. i guess you need to evauate to see if it's doable.

Exactly, although make sure you do the lenses right otherwise your whole outcome will be overshadowed by foggy lenses. If you want I have a pair of gs lenses that I dont need so pm. And if your going to paint them anything besides black then do a base coat first. It will prime the surface for a better bondage and give you a better outcome.
