Thumbs up If I was you !

If I was you, I would have 2 choices

1) Wait till the new redesigned GS to come out , in a year and a half.

2) Get a 1998 GS400 because the 1998,1999,2000 is basically the same except for the brake assist in 2000. 2001 gs300 is different only in cosmetics. Well except for the ML/NAV.

Default If I were you

If I were you I would go with a used GS400. There are many 1998s coming off of leases now that are in very good condition. You just have to find the right car. The internet is a great place to look for used cars (auto trader online, etc.) all over the country. I recently found online and bought my 1998 SC400. It took me 6 months to find her. My husband and I traveled all over looking at SC400s until we found the right one. We got a great deal on it and we do not have to eat that initial depreciation that a new car has.

Also, I would be secure in your job for at least 1 year before I would consider buying a car. You need to make sure the job is stable and all of that.

Just my two cents.

Remember all good things come to those who wait.

Default in the same boat a year ago

Hey man,
lemme tell you man i see that we are almost exact copies of each other and I'll tell you how it worked for me. I started my job last August making about 50K plus year and I'm right near you living in Maryland. I would say you would be pretty tight but if you can save for a little while then I would do that. I got a 98 GS 400 in early May of this year after saving up 13,000 for my down payment and I'm making 500 dollar payments a month. Some thinks to keep in mind is that I personally think you may be spending more then 1000 a month on food and living in the DC area, because I live at home and help my parents with the bills and I'm comfortable but not as much as I would like. If I were you I would save my money up for a little while before you went out and did it. I know man its hard but just think you will be starting in August and the summer will almost be over so you really won't have any good pimp time with it. A few of my friends got cars right when we started jobs and most of them say they wish they waited. Its up to you but I'm just telling you since I've been through this. If you think you can do it go for it that set up is sick, another think to keep in mind is that combination is hard to find around us so will be paying top dollar for it. I know I was originally looking to get a 01 GS 300 with just the Navi and they were impossible to find. Let us know what you decide to do. I say go with the 98 GS400 I couldn't imagine having a GS300, lot of respect comes with the 4 over the 3 since they are much more rare.
