Default So I guess I need a new cup holder for the rear.... HELP PLEASE?

I have a 2001 and my rear cup holder gave out. First problem I've had with my baby. I went to the dealership (Lexus of Riverside sucks BTW) and they said labor would be $90 + $65 for the cup holder.

My cup holder still slides in and out perfectly, but it won't stay in. I was wondering if any of you have had this problem and how you solved it. I don't really want to go back to the stealership (I've had bad experiences) and I'd prefer to do it myself (DIY time!).

Also, anyone have a rattling sound in the engine? I have a rattling sound at low RPM + low MPH which is around 20-25. It just rattles and once I hit the gas/go above that speed it goes away. They wanted $90 just for a test drive.

I had the complete opposite problem with my rear cupholder, it wouldn't come out. Mine was replaced under 'good will'.

As far as DIY, I'm not too sure about that. I figure it would be fairly simple.

Maybe if you can find that piece that was broken off, you can try to improvise or create something

Well Mr. Banana GS put a dvd in his rear arm rest, a small tutorial on how to remove it:

The Lexus service rep said that there's a hook that you lift (or something like that) and it just slides out. I just hate going to Lexus dealerships.

Anyone else besides Lexstastic have the rattling problem? The guy literally laughed out loud when I said a few other people had the problem. He simply remarked, "I've been here 10 years and haven't had anyone with that problem."

Haha, My son and his cousins just broke mine last week, same problem it won't stay in, unless it's in the upright position...Let me know if you find a way to fix it...I didn't want to fix it just yet, thinking they would just break it again—Kids ya know...

That is the same reason I hate going to the Lexus dealership

So yours isn't continuous? Mine will never stay in unless it's in the upright position.

The service rep tried to keep it in by slamming it in as hard as he could.

I guess I'll take a look at the rear cup holder assembly this weekend. I think it's probably a broken clip or something since it still slides perfectly fine.

I've been there a few times although I've never used them for service. What is their problem?
