hey guys i'm trying to install genuine Lexus GS HID lights into my GS300...does anyone have the repair manual with the diagram or instructions on how to install them or where everything goes? if so, it'd be greatly appreciated if someone would scan in that portion of the manual for me

thanks

if no one has them, try the parts dept at the dealership, they should be able to make a copy for you

okay this is how u do the Modification. First u take off the screws thats visible when u open the hood. 2nd u turn the front wheels and open the panel and if u look in there 2 more screws are again holding the bumper together take those out on both sides and all the screws under the car then u should be fine

May I ask where you got those HID and how much you paid? Does it come with the bulbs and the ballast?

Also, does it have the motorized leveling feature?? And lenses (I believe that the HID lenses are different than regular halogen ones).

I'm getting mine of a friend who totaled his GS but luckily he and his HID lights are fine

so...free...hope you guys can find something like this

is the OEM HID system just the bulbs, wires, and ballast? no ECU or anything of that sort controlling it?

I believe it's quite a bit more than that. There's motorized leveling controls in the light mechanisms themselves, and there's a sensor at the back of the car to detect the level of the car.

I just don't believe this is an easy or inexpensive drop in upgrade to do it right.

Anyone know the real deal?

Hey Cruxader:

About the totaled GS. What year and color is his GS? I need extra front headrests and sun visors, can you get them for me from his car? I am ready to pay a reasonable price for them too.

Thanks in advance.

Default Coverting Non-HID to HID...

If you live in the Los Angeles area and want to convert your 1998-2000 GS300/400 to HID send me a PM with a daytime phone number. I have done several and it looks great! I can't give you auto-leveling because of the different wire loom needed. But I can get you complete brand new HID headlamp units for both sides. Only serious inquiries please.

I think that's illegal in most if not all states, isn't it?

illegal to have HID in California? Never heard that one.

or

Why would it be illegal when the car comes with HID as an option?

HID systems that have the self leveling system is not illegal. Factory HIDs all have the self leveling mechanismsm. Aftermarket ones do not. All aftermarket HIDs to date do not have the leveling system thus are all illegal.

Thanks Andy... glad someone else sees where I'm coming from. So many people think it's just a drop in to get HID, and I was pretty sure it isn't.
