Painting my gold emblems black pearl
I'm currently in the process of painting my emblem black pearl. I just got the primer and paint yesterday. I also took off all the rear emblems and stripped the clear coating off of them with paint stripper. I first started with the L emblem, painting it first with primer and then the black pearl paint.
I then realized I'm rushing this job because I didn't wait until the primer and paint completely dried before handling it. This caused fingerprints and nicks in the paint. Frustrated I stripped all the paint off so I can start over. This is turning out to be more than a half day's job.
If I really put time and effort into this, I'm sure they will come out very nice. So I will slowly attempt this again but i'm going to take my time. I have some high gloss clear coating too so i'll finish them off with that. So overall $20 spent compared to $200 for the emblems.
I will update this thread with pics once I'm done.

I painted the L in my grille gunmetal over a year ago and it is still like new. The only thing I would recommend is some adhesion promoter. Unless you sand the emblems like crazy in all the little corners it may start to peel up. But if you sand and then spray adhesion promoter and then the spray paint it should work great. Good luck and post up some pics when done
