You might try asking that shop to see if they know a place to get paint. I know of at least one in my area where you can go and request them mix a batch of OEM color. I believe they will even paint match.

Unfortunately, you will need to find out if there is one like this in your area. i'm just confirming that these places do exist.

Your best bet is just to ask the shop were you can get the paint.

Try also searching the web for automotive paint suppliers. Good luck

I know the local body/paint shops here, mix their own paint in house. They find a brand (dupont/ ppg ect.) that seems to work for them and they mix the color from the color code for the vehicle. Its cheaper for them since they only mix what they need and if they have to modify the color a tad for a better match they can. Some small shops may not have that capability, but most larger shops can. If you want to buy yourself, just look in the phone book for paint, and find a good shop that deals in automotive paint and supplies. They will be able to match it for you by the color code for your vehicle. I have somewhere the color codes for lexus and also the ppg/dupont ect crossover codes. If I find it I will post it here. Be warned though, automotive paint is not cheap, exspecially if you have a pearl or candy. By what I was told my 98 lexus has a 3stage paint job, base, candy, clear. That means 3 diffrent paints, and all the hardners, flex stuff, reducers, hardners/catalyst, ect. It can add up. Its also hard to spray pearls and candys to get a good match. Im still trying to decide if I wish to tackle my rear bumber myself or not. Im off to try and find the list...

Took me long enough, but I found where I got the info from. In my hands I hold the cross reference for 1998 & 99 lexus colors. I think I can get the other years also. For instance of what im talking about;

I have a 98 GS400 with a color code of 3N1 = Cinnabar Pearl
Mfg Color Code
BASF LEX3N1
DUPONT F4483
ICI LCJ1B
PPG 5435
SHERWIN WILLIAMS 56752
SIKKENS LEX3N1
SPIES-HECKER 34400
STANDOX 3N1

As you notice some companys use the OEM code, but others have their own code for the color. All are sapose to be the same color, just diffrent mfg of paint. Just find paint company in your town that carries the brand you prefer, and they should have the crossover color code for the paint they sell. If it means anything I would recomend PPG, or Dupont. I have had good luck with them and are very well known. And no I dont work for either of them, I actually work for a small paint mfg here, but with my luck we dont do automotive paint. I just get to play with it alot. If anyone needs to know the crossover code for their color, im willing to give them to you, if i have them. Hope this helps someone.

you should get the shop to mix a batch since you might have some paint fade....

Spraying on without color matching would be noticable.

Sorry for the delay, The color your looking for fir the 98 GS Alpine Silver Metalic:

Manf. Code

OEM 199
BASF LEX199
Dupont L9990
ICI 5TX1B
PPG 4900
SHERWIN WILLIAMS 48976
SIKKENS LEX199
SPIES-HECKER 70706
STANDOX 199

When i get the time Im gonna type out the whole chart for the 98 and 99 for the gs. I think I might have all the lexus color conversions but havenot checked yet, once again the time issue. Its hard when I have two projects going at one time ( my lexus and a '66 chevy truck) on top of all the other stuff in day to day life.
