Should this botton light up with the head lights on? I can't remeber but on my mom's LS it does. In my car it doesn't. Wonder if I have to order the botton

You have a BLOWN bulb in the switch. I just replaced the ones in my "power" switch just recently. The STEALERS should wear "masks" when they sell them to us, because we are definitely being ROBBED. They seem to be the only ones that have these bulbs. I researched for a week on the web, but couldn't find the correct bulbs. I gave up and went to Lexus. I tried TOYOTA, but once I told them the kind of car I had, they sent me to Lexus. This is highway robbery.
The bulbs have a colored plastic cover over it, if your lights are green or blue tinted in the dashboard and console. You have to use your old plastic covers in most cases, or if you do like me (I LOST the little cover) it will glow white once the bulb is put back into place. It was not important enough for me to go back to LEXUS to play an arm and or leg to get a green cover for mine..(I have 99 GS4). SOME bulbs DO come with the plastic cover over it, but may be the wrong color for your application.
You WILL have to disassemble the console bezel to get to the switch, and once you have it in hand, turn it over and you have to use a small screwdriver to remove the bulb from the switch. DO NOT let the dealer talk you into buying a whole NEW switch. THAT is how they like to do it. The console bezel lifts up by hand..(no screws holding it down). You will probably have to put the gearfshift in "1" to have clearance for the woodgrained outer bezel to come off. All 4 switches are screwed into the bezel, and all quick disconnect wiring for each switch will have to be disconnected prior to removal of the bezel.
Maybe I will take mine down again, take pictures, and make it a DIY. It is NOT hard to replace, but the bulb is SMALL...very small. Prices VARY from stealer to stealer. I paid close to 10 bucks for one bulb. The bulb is encased in a small plastic holder base that has wire contacts from the bulb going through it, and then wrapped around it. Inside the switch receptacle is a brass contact the bulb touches when it is screwed in. The bulb should be FREE from the dealer, but of course is NOT.
You know it is the bulb when all the lights on all the other switches come on, but this one does not.
Good luck
