Default Power Button

Fellas, I have a '99 GS 300 and am hoping someone can tell me about the Power Button and when I should have it on. Should it be on all the time or just when I am looking for more power (passing situation)?

Is it primarily for highway driving or city?

Will my fuel efficiency decrease with the Power button on?

Does it give you more horsepoer or what?

Thanks,

Ted

hey Ted, it doesn't give you more HP I think it just gives you more overall power from each gear. I never ever used this button for years until a buddy of mine got in my car and was like "dude use the power button" so i did and felt a nice difference. shoot i was like dam why didn't I ever use this before. So for the last year I always had in on, it spent a little more gas than normal driveing but it was worth it..

Nope. No more HP than spec. It just changes the shift points so that the car stays in the lower gears longer to get a bit more output. There is a bit more noise since the engine is going harder but that should not bother many on here. The "typical" Lexus owner, howver, probably likes the quieter smooth behavior most expect from a Lexus.

Thanks Adrian and NEo for the helpful insight and info.

I too have not used this but am now just leaving it on, the sound doesn't bother me at all.

neo is right, it doesn't change any power or hp spec, it just changes the timing and the shift point, that's all.

i usually leave it off, unless i want to drive aggressively
