Default looking at used 99 gs400... any advice?

my parents recently bought a 2000 rx300 and we all love it to bits. i currently drive a 02 subaru wrx and every time i drive their lexus i am painfully aware of what i'm missing out... so it's time to change.

i'm currently looking at this example:

http://bluestarmotors.com/index.php?...room&carid=177

any problem areas i should be looking out for before commiting?

Sweet car with several aftermarket add-ons

What type of wheels are they?

very nice car, but the price is too high..34500 you can buy a nice example of 02 or even 03 gs430. yes the mods worth money, but not that much. I have a similar GS4 very similar setup and I wouldn;'t even think I will sell it with more than 30K with all mods on it.
GO find a nice 99 gs4 with low miles for under 23K, and use the extra 11K for your own mods.

the price is canadian. $28-29k is roughly what it should be in USD.... still too much?

it's hard to find a low-mileage w/records no accident gs here. there are many shady ones with no history imported from the US or east coast. for example i looked at a 01 with only 28k mi on it but it looked like it had done twice that much. the salesperson even had the nerve to say "it had never seen winter" when i was staring at the blizzaks that were mounted on the car (and this was in july!)

Exactly.

34,950.00 CAD = 28,747.58 USD

Still waaaaay too high IMO for a car with what, like 63K mi on it, and a 99 model year to boot???? Don't even consider the add-ons as part of the price, because if you were trading that car in with all the goodies on it, the dealer wouldn't give you any more for the extras. Matter of fact they would most likely try to give you less.I would offer the guy around 23 or 24 USD for it.

maybe the price has to do with geography.... where i live on the westcoast, this price is considered average for this model year and mileage. damn

is there something i'm missing? is 1999 a bad year?

To my knowlege there were no bad years The 1999 has no known problems that I know of that were only consistent with that year.

Is it a lot of hassle to bring one in from the US?

it can be difficult to bring one up from the us... and with all the shipping/duties/taxes/paperwork it can end up being about the same price for a good example locally. i've seen many used US cars locally, but with no history i wouldn't touch them with a 10' pole.

here's an example:

Too far away to tell but they could be Work Euroline LS105 = Maido LS5.

The other Lexus mods I can make out are:

Wald Exec kit
01+ tails
01+ cluster
eyelids
JP wing

If you really want those mods, the price is not bad. If you don't, then the price is a bit high.
