Hello,

I'd like to inform you of a group buy that is currently in progress for Fiber Images (http://www.fiberimages.com/) carbon fiber hoods. They have an extensive list of applications, all of which may take part in this group buy. Applications are available for:

98-01 GS Series

The pricing for the group buy is as follows (each column represents price based on number of participants; 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, and 10+ respectively):

98-01 GS Series: $525 $495 $465 $450

These are single layer carbon fiber hoods. 100% carbon fiber or carbon kevlar hoods are available for $100 extra. Colored carbon kevlar hoods are available in Blue, Red, and Yellow and are $100 extra as well.

Payments will be done via credit card for buyers outside of Southern California. Those in Southern California may pay via cash, check, money order, or cashier's check. California residents purchasing with a credit card will be charged sales tax.

Shipping costs outside of Southern California will vary depending on location. This amount will be added to the cost of the hood.

Cusco and Sparco hood pins are also available for $45 (in polished, red, or blue) per pair.

The deadline for this group buy is JULY 20, 2001. If you'd like to participate in this opportunity or if you have any questions, please feel free to post a message at our forum at www.teamsc3.com. Or you can contact Steve at schung07@hotmail.com. Any other inquiries can be sent to this address as well. Thank you for your time!

-Ryan

It's much lighter than the stock hood and it's pretty strong.

Probably around 200-300 dollars...Silver is the hardest color to match, told by an awesome body shop, so when I was quoted a body kit, they also included costs to blend in the fenders etc...might look good unpainted...if you go with it...try it out first unpainted...

I migth also be interesed, but if it was like the veilside hood...

I mean...if you paint it, who cares??? You are only saving a minimal amount of wiegth

can you actually paint over carbon fiber material?

i think for many who has the CF hood, they actually prefer leave it in the CF finish. but some may say it is a bit much for the GS. just what i heard.

Nope you shouldn't paint over Carbon Fiber but I have seen the woven fiber itself in different colors.. I guess Flipside can get Blue or Red for a $100 more.. For my taste I its too much overkill but on some cars it really looks nice.. Take for example the S2000.. Now that car is made for that type of hood treatment..

I have seen carbon fiber painted before...it was on a 2nd gen eclipse. I personally wouldn't suggest it, but it can be done. Also, like I said earlier, there is no point in buying one of these hoods unless you want to show it off or are doing some major weight reduction for racing etc. I personally would buy the Veilside hood though it is a bit more.
