Default Old GS NAV Systems...

I'm buying a 1998 GS400 this week-end with a NAV system. Where might I find information concerning its capabilities? By searching I've found a lot of information on the newer nav systems but not on the older ones. Can anyone direct me to a source or a thread I must have missed? Thanks!

What exactly do you want to know about it?

I simply want to know what it does or may be modified to do. I've read that some of the newer ones play DVDs. Can the older ones? Do the older ones have a telephone directory that interacts or is capable of interacting with a telephone? The one in the GS I'm purchasing was updated in 2003 - the database that is. Thanks.

You need to buy some extra stuff to get it to play DVD's - look at spending about $1000 for it.

No, no telephone directory.

There is a built in phone in the car in the center console - speak to Lexus about getting it working.
