How to do the rear view camera without edge from keyhole?
Is there a more ideal place to put the reart view cam on the GS,
or
Can you have the cam flush against the edge so that you don't have that ring around your picture that takes up half the screen?

LXOGOOD,
What brand is your camera? Some of the best quality rear view pics I've seen.
Also to get the full view did you have to trim up the keyhole or any mods to the body to get it flush?
I'm having Lexis11 install my system this saturday and just trying to figure out the best way to do this, and the best way to mod the AVIC-D1 to get all the functions working.

Jeff, I think it depends on the camera type. Some camera's offer a very narrow angle while others offfer a wide view. Picking the right camera helps make the install easier. I noticed that when I had my "bullet style" camera pushed in the keyhole, I would get a small ring show up on my monitor. Once we made it more flush with the trunk bar, the ring went away.
My guess is that if you get a wide angle lens, you will pick up the outer ring. One other important factor is the LUX rating. That has to do with light sensitivity and how well it works at night. Try to get a lux rating of 1.0 or lower. Anything higher means it needs more light at night to brighten up the source...My older camera was a 3 lux and my screen would go black at night. My new camera is a 1.0 lux and picks up street lamps so well at night that it makes my images crystal clear in B&W.

Sorry guys, I have no idea what the brand name is or a part number. All I know is that my audio place who did the install said it was one of the best on the market for day and night. They did refer to it as a "bullet style" camera and that it was a 1 Lux. The cost was about $200..
It does have a focus lens on it so once you get your pic in focus, use a dab of glue to keep it there. Otherwise, a hard jolt or vibration may knock it out of focus...
