New "Dark Walnut" interior pieces installed. Pics...
This was completed a while ago, now I have some good photos to share...
I wanted a unique look for the interior wood, something different from blackwood or an opaque pained finish. I discussed this with my good friend Joe at Backyard Creations, and we utimately decided to try an black candy clear coat treatment.
I removed the pieces from the car, and Joe worked his magic. Several coats were applied and then color-sanded and buffed to a glassy high gloss. In the sunshine, it looks like dark walnut, almost like cherry wood. In the shade, it essentially turns piano black.
We did the same treatment to my brother's car (link 13) - the photos of his interior and new ZONE wheels can be seen in his thread in the "GS First Generation" forum.
It took some experimentation (and some time), but I think the resuts were worth it.
Enjoy... and thanks for looking!
