Has anyone had to replace their OEM battery yet? I have had my GS for 2 1/2 years now, and the battery will not recharge now, even after jumping it and letting it run for an extended period of time.

hello fellow ucsd alum,
there is another alum(aka KAJU....) on board too. myself is class of 91.
several members who have more electronic goodies upgrade to the best- OPTIMA Red or yellow top. either is much better than stock. though they are a bit more $$, they are worth it.
both carparts.com and summitracing.com have them at good prices.

ucsdsig,
On my old 98 GS4, the battery went on me after having the car for almost 3 years, I jumped it and it lasted a week or so, but was losing charge again. I went to the service dept. at the dealership and got a new one under warranty. The battery is covered under the 4yr/50K warranty according to the dealership I went to, so take it over and get a new battery. Or you could go spend the cash and get a better battery, as gs4will recommended, since the OEM's aren't great batteries to begin with. Best of luck to you.

William - always goog to hear from a fellow alum. I graduated in '97 and boy do I miss the days lounging in La Jolla. Thanks for the helpful response.
GS430 Guy - thanks for the advice. I called Lexus roadside to have someone come by and give my car a jump tomorrow morning. To my surprise, the offered to tow my car on a flatbed to the dealership of my choice. (Since I am on a weekend trip and not familiar w/ the dealership located closest to me). So the car will be towed 40 miles.
You both made some good points about upgrading my battery. After this next one wears out, I might just have to do that! Thanks.
