Default Why do they do this (rev my engine when in for service)

Guys,

Just brought my GS into the local Toyota dealership ( had past problems with them but there isn't anywhere else I want to bring my car besides Lexus but they were booked so I was stuck.) So anyway, I bring my car to them and they take my car to drive it through and the dude revs the car

Obviously it is an auto so it's not like he was getting used to the clutch. So then they pull it in to the bay and rev it again before they turn it off. Then when they are done they turn it on again and rev it again

I guess I could take it as a compliment that they think it sounds good - but damn - I'm standing right there!! Quit revving my car.

Is there any specific reason they would be revving my car - or are they just kids having fun with my car?

Jonny

Unless you took it in for an exhaust leak...

i don't see any particular reason myself. they never rev my car for any reason. it would have been pretty loud inside the service area anyway

He probably just likes the sound of your exhaust.

Why do they do this
because they are typical punkass techs that don't give a crap about your stuff. not saying they're all like that, but many/most are.

Did you mention anything.. If you probably got really upset and complained the Manager could have given you next tune up free.

Because you have the L-tuned exhaust system . Regular Lexus customers don't usually fix up their car and if they do we usually don't see it............. cause they like to work on it themself. I say they like your sound.

Why are tech. being pick on around here??? Not all techs are bad!!! Like everyother fields there will be bad apples but most are trying to make a living !

Cheers.

rev the car and shut off the engine right away is very very very bad for the engine!!! never even do that yourself too.... but I can't believe lexus tech is doing it repeatly to your car!!! They are having too much fun!

I'm not picking on techs, it's just that most of them don't give a crap. I'm sure if you're passionate enough to be posting here than you probably are not like that

at the same time, I know you know a few of that type of punk *** techs

btw- the only time a car needs to be revved like that before shut off is if it's a carbureted race motor that runs rich and needs to be cleared out from time to time, not a fuel injected Lexus
