price/value: gs300.
comfort: gs300
look:your taste
speed: both are good; one member w/gs300 raced a 530 and won.
reliablity: gs300
the $$$ you saved on the gs can be used to further enhance many elements on the gs.
well this is a lex board, but i do try to be impartial. the bottom line: 530 does not offer enough for the money spend(i could+would get a premium gs430 for the $$ spend on 530s).
GS300 - very good, if not excellent value in its class.

i remember racing a 530 a few weeks ago. i'm not sure if it was automatic or stick but i did beat it it (even though it got me off the line). performance is about the same with both cars but the gs is a little bit faster (at least according to my experience).
well, i have to say that a girl was driving the bimmer so maybe she didn't know how to race. she was hot though, i gotta give her that.

Z,
if she was HOT, then your full attention must be side-tracted
.so it is not a fair race. ...but you still won...just to show you how good of a value GS can be.
D-man,
i was trying to be fair
. afterall this is a lex board, not a beemer one. we are impartial, right....hhee

PS All magazine times not street times which are different...Which is exactly why you won and beat the magazine numbers!

At least one owner admitted that you don't get the price break, nice extra toys, service, reliability, and treatment you get with a Lexus...GET BOTH!!

I helped my mom purchase her 530i and I wanted one too, until I saw the GS430, which we awesome.
A fully loaded 530i can get in the price range of a GS430, but the choice was clear a V8 over a V6 anytime.
I was also worried about the reliability, since BMW are great cars, but they have reliability problems and are expensive to maintain for the long run. Lexus is solid and fully loaded is the way to go.
Definitely go for the ML Audio and NAV. Well worth it and see what you can do to get a GS430, that will make your decision much easier. A fully loaded 540i will cost more too.

yah I did beat 530i (should be auto) on the freeway. Launch should be slower but my car still pulls after 100mph and that thing just sits there.
