A door actuator is a simple motor with pull up/pull down gearing. You can go to your local car audio shop and have a new one installed for less than $75 parts and labor. It may not be a "lexus" actuator, but it looks like the track record of them isn't so well anyway, time to try other things.

The part itself is $20 or less for all the DIY guy's that wanna take a whack at it. Even the more upperline viper actuators are only $19. It's a simple design and you shouldn't have to pay more than $100 from the most expensive shop to have an aftermarket unit installed."

anyone has used the after market actuator and did it work? i went to few shops and they told me that I need to buy from Lexus and like most of the people on the forum do.. I was woundering is anyone installed after market for $20 that supposely they sell in Car Security Shops. The ones that i went to did not want to bother or did not know that they could, or maybe you need to get it From Lexus, i want to find out before I get 2 from Lexus for my rear doors..

i have not looked at the lexus design. i have however used an aftermarket door actuator in my acura when the door locks stopped working. i wired it up to the factory harness and unlocks faster and locks faster.

so did anyone use an aftger market door actuators on GS's? I have 3 doors not working on my 2001 gs430!! i am not about to spend 900 dollars on parts plus labor for these stupid things? anyone has any suggestions? I was woundering if aftermarket actuators like the ones made by Viper alarm company would work?
