Hey everyone. I'm new to this place....I've been checking it out for like a week now, and you guys all seem really cool, along with the site. Well something happened which just forced me to join (well, I woulda anyways) and ask you guys. I have a 1999 GS300.....it's gold. Well, my first problem which I know can't be solved is that I have GS400 envy But hey, i know I still got one kick a$$ car! The sweetest thing one the road.....well, second sweetest Hopefully I'll move up to a 430 soon.....this car was my dad's choice, but he doesn't know how to treat it, so I took over. Well anyways, today I washed it and went for a little ride. On my way back home, this little punk in an IS came up behind me. I pulled up to a red light, and beside me was some guy in a prelude (the IS was behind me). For osme reason, I dunno why, the prelude revved his engine and looked at me. At the green, I just kicked it.....obviously the prelude was left way behind. But seeing as I was coming up to my house, I got in the left lane....suddenly the IS came right past me (I wasn't racing him or nothing)......and then he passed me and had the nerve to put his blinkers on. I don't know what he was trying to prove, I mean, I was slowing down into the left run lane when he passed me. Anyways.....I had my VSC off and my PWR on.........so what happened? Please don't tell me that an IS can beat my car!! That would seriously add to my GS400 inferiority complex I'd say that it was a good quartermile i was driving, when the IS came past me. Oh well, that's my story. ClubLexus is a great site, and all you guys out there....my fellow GS brothers, you guys seem really cool. You'll probably hear form me again. Well, later.

kooly...
seeing as I think the GS3 and IS3 share similar engines (or the same???)... and the IS is a small car... I could see how that may happen...small car big engine.. big car, small engine... that's why there's a 400/430....

While my GS430 is getting its 10,000 mile service plus some other things they gave me an IS300 as a loaner. It is almost as fast as my GS430 under certain conditions. So I can see how this could happen.

it is all in the family
Kooly,
my bro, welcome. about your gs3 v is3 adventure, i really do not know what to say. is3 is a smaller car, in a diff class. may be i am old or something(i am only 33), but i have actually giving up even trying to race many civics and integra on the road who challenge me. can my gs4 dust off challenges, sure, and that is what i do- just dust-off. my reasoning: not worth my time+effort. i would rather be playing w/the stereo, my babe next to me, or both.
gs3 is heavier, more of a criuser(not that it is slow). but when you have a smaller car v.bigger car w/same engine, the result is obvoius.
what to do to make you feel better, work hard, save $$$, and get the gs4. gs+is are in the same family, there is no need to feel bad.

IS300 will dust a GS300 and definitely run circles around it (and a stock GS430) in the handling department. It's a GREAT little car.
Now if they made an IS430...
