Question

i understand that August is when they have remnants and stuff like that that translate into real good deals. i am looking to lease as i tend not to keep cars very long. i checked Lexus leases and current residuals are low at around 58% and the lease factor is at 30. it's exactly the same as what BMW is offering me at the moment. i expect the residuals to be a bit higher than that for a Lexus. anyone have the inside scoop?

Lightbulb inside scoop

Hi J,

wow, this amazing, so far there 3 members looking for a new GS this month. may be this regional or something, but after talking to my bud-the sales manager at one of the largest dealerships here in LA, the residual had gone down 1-2 %, depends on the model. a GS w/premium has a res. of 56%(15k miles/year) right now as of july 5th.

the residual on the BMWs are actually a bit lower as i was told by beemer dealers, especially the 740s. as far as the lex is concerned, they do typically retain ~57-60% of initial MSRP, depend on models. this is the value for 15k miles/ year. if you were to do 12k/year, the res. would be slightly higher.

you are correct, rigt now is def. the time for a GS, especaially the premium pkg gs430. but if you like the nav+ml more, you would need to act on it as they are still quite hot items. for premium w/17s, non-chrome, you are loking at ~$45150+fees; nav+ml+17" chrome fully loaded at ~$51900(carsdirect quoted me $52500).

anyway, i am making arrangement for 3-4 members to pick up gs430 this month. one member is actually in dallas, so i would have to ship the car to him, no big deal. let me know if you want some more info. you can reach me via PM box, or

When I bought my GS 300 this week, my wife wanted the NAV (geographic dyslexia, we surmise), but after all of the negs I had read about it here and at Edmunds, I talked her out of it. The salesman confided that they had just dropped the residuals on NAV models because of this factor, combined with the anticipated new version for '02.
