Is there a DIY on how to do this or does anyone have good instructions on how to replace and install the new trim piece?

thanks.

somewhere up top someone explained it very accurately how to do it... in my case my car was repainted at some point in it's life and a shop used double sided tape for some reason and had me going

Just did mine today.Picked up the part from the local dealersiphon and they quoted me $150 to install it.. Took about 30 minutes to do and thats because Im prolly super **** about stuff..Anyway heres my technique just to recap for this page...

1.Open door and find 3 plastic 10mm bolts.(2 at rear of door 1 at front) and remove them
2.From the bottom, seperate just enough to get to 5 philipps screws and undo
3.Pull the trim down and off.
INSTALL
The tricky part(and most time consuming for me)is woorking the new trim back on.
The dealer removes the whole plastic panel as you will see a starter slot near the front. You can manuever it on there,I didnt(****)cause I figured this peice is already fragile but it can be done with no damage..Once the new trim is on reverse the process and ENJOY!!!

Lightbulb Part numbers for lower door trim (99 GS400 / Blk)

Here is a scan of the labels for the lower door trim in the gallery:

https://www.clublexus.com/gallery/da...TrimLabels.jpg

It took me about 45 minutes to replace both front door mouldings(as stated above I went the external route, thanks for the tip) Make sure you have either a short stubby philiips screwdriver or one of those "S" type short screwdrivers. The screw at the front of the door is hard to get to.

Good luck!

Hello,
I just bought a set ot four for my car from Carson Toyota. $82.50 shipped for all four pcs. My lexus dealer quoted me $125.00 for 1 pc plus install.
I really only needed both pass.sides. Installed both in a half hour. It was easy.

One of mine separated over the weekend. I super-glued it, but it looks like crap. I think I'll order one of these tomorrow. For all of you who have silver cars, was there any issue with the color matching? I have to believe that my car is not the exact same color it was 7 years ago due to fading.

I had the same problem on the passenger side. Put some 3m double sided tape as a temporary fix, planned to go back and use some JB weld epoxy. The tape has held up fine so I haven't epoxied.

my car was repsrayed 2 years ago (also a 99), and the trim does match the new paint on the car.

i wish they had painted both sides of the trim because the overspray on the backside is a little unsightly... but then again who looks under the door?
