Custom made STB's for the GS300?
#1
Hello everyone...as many people have noticed, there is a serious lack of STB's for the GS300 (98+ JSZ16x body). I have some hook ups at machine shops that can produce STB's.
I just wanted to gauge the interest in this. It will most likely be either Tube style (like the TRD one) or billet bar style (like the RMM) version. I am thinking about offering it in a brushed finish or some type of powercoated finish...In any case, it will not be anywhere in the vicinity of half-***. If there is enough interested, I will see if I can bring one to the next Club Lexus meet (maybe raffle it off)
The cost is still up in the air but I plan on keeping it below $250.
Let me know how many people would be interested...

there are about 5 STBs for the GS300 (JZS160), 1 RMM, 2 Carbings, 1 I.Mec, 1 Juran. I'm currently looking for someone who can get me the juran bar, but I have to get my grill painted first.

I heard that the RMM one doesn't fit! Who sells the I.Mec and Juran? Do you have photos of them?
And which Carbings fit? The Type I?, Type R?

I.Mec and Juran...... I don't know. They're small companies and they don't have authorized dealers here in USA. I guess I'm gonna go to Hiro when I need them.
Both Type I and Type R fits.
Type R is just a fatter Type I made in Steel. Type I comes in both steel and aluminum. A steel Type I only costs 12000 yen! (roughly 100 bucks), what a STEAL!

Hmmm, does anyone here have a RMM STB on a GS300? Please let us know!
Both the Type I and R fit, eh? Hmmmm, wonder why no one carries them....it just seemed like there were a lot of GS300 owners who wanted STB's but couldn't get one...
Oh, this poll also goes for older GS owners (JZS-14x)...so if you have an older GS, please take the poll...

if i remembered correctly, someone on this board with white GS300 with RMM kit and AV3s with black wood has a RMM bar on the car. Eh....... forgot who. Not Andy, who was it??????
I think the engine cover on the 300 NEEDS to be removed to fit anything. That cover is hitting the sponge thingy on the hood.
JZS160 chassis parts are not that hot in Japan. They have the Turbo version so no one really plays with a 2JZ-GE anyways... As far as I know the Juran bar is pretty popular among Aristo S300 owners in Japan. It looks pretty nice too.

Not bad looking...
Hey, how about if I engrave your name on your STB Globe?
I was think about the same type of bar for the GS300's but with black towers and a brushed (or polished) bar...maybe a black anodized bar...
Because I would be making only a handful, I don't think I'll be able to get a "volume" price like $100...I'd rather not make the STB based on price, I'd rather make it based on quality...if I have to make it as cheap as possible, I'd rather not make it at all, know what I mean?
If I do make them, I plan on making both the front and rear.
Anyways, if you guys want one, please post here, I am keeping a list of people's name so I can gauge which bars (GS300 JZS16x, GS300 JZS14x, LS400, LS430, SC300, SC400, SC430, etc., etc.)

GS3 vs GS4 STB
I'm a bit confused. I thought the body of the GS3 and GS4 were identical and the strut tower design of both cars was exact. Given this fact, why wouldn't the STB for the 98+ GS4 work for the 98+ GS3? I guess there could be some clearance problems with the I-6 vs the V-8, but I thought most of the manufacturers and resellers of STBs advertised them for both the GS3 and GS4.
Can somebody please clarify my ponderance??
Thx...Doug

The height of the NA GS300 motor is higher than the GS400/430 or the Turbo GS300...that's why a lot of STB's don't fit...they have to be specifically designed to clear the NA GS300 motor (2JZ-GE)
