I am considering light charcoal tint for my GS430 side and rear windows. Problem is, I get conflicting information about affect tint will have on radio, and especially GPS performance.

One dealer says stay away from any so-called metallic/hybrid tint on rear window as it blocks GPS antenna under rear parcel shelf and interferes with radio reception. Another says that GPS antenna is imprinted on rear glass same as radio antenna and metallic tint kills performance.

I regularly see posts here where GS owners car descriptions include both a navagation system and mention of window tint. I can find little mention of any problems (or successes for that matter).

I'm looking for specific information on the impact tint may or may not have on factory GPS and radio reception.

I checked with SolarGard factory and they recommend non-reflective tint for rear window, but I understand that this tint has dyes that breakdown with prolonged exposure to heat and UV. The local tint dealer/ installer says he's done numerous cars with no problems, but is short on specifics
