They have an attitude with Lexus in general and will downgrade automobiles that doesn't have the 3 point start siiting in front of the car

Anywho I am going to continue to be around with either a ls430 or a gs430. Just not going to mod it just yet.
Nothing personal bro, my statement wasn't directed at anyone particular or the few folks that are currently selling today. I'm just noting an additional reason that I think some people sell their super nice cars. It doesn't only apply to just the GS or Lexus, this goes for any make/model. And even if someone is in financial hardship, I'm not dinging them as a human. I've been upside-down myself.

I'll have my GS for a long, long, long time. Im no where near what most have in terms of mods, but even then, its just a really fun car to drive, and its within my means (well, the mods may not be, but thats a different thread in itself!! ). But there are definitely a lot of just reasons for folks to move on to other priorities, and for them, its good to know that they have their priorities in line to recognize that somethings have to change at some point in our lives. So to all of you folks moving on (to other priorities, auto's, etc), best of luck to you. I know we'll still see plenty of you verterans here at CL....

I like my GS and love this forum, it is truly the best automotive forum and I lurk like on 5 forums. But If I leave Lexus blame it on the E55 AMG. I liked and looked at 645ci and cls 500 but for now set on a E55 AMG the thing holding me back is the E63 coming out, but I probably wont wait for that and just get a a mint 2005 E55. Please dont tell me Im an idiot because I know that Lexus is a better quality car with better customer service but did you ever lay the hammer down on that insane car. The word OWNED takes on a different meaning on that car, All I will add is a set of iFORGED or HRE( lips are a requirement) and a drop.
Here is an example. Although I like silver or black more.

Well, like Ed, the car dies with me. It will be just too hard to strip it down and restore to stock. It is almost not worth it (cash-wise) to sell in a few years.

I dont think anyone would call you an idiot for buying that beast. That car is insane and you would get two from most people here. Good luck with the search and show some pics when you pick it up

Off the subject, but WOW cars in Australia are expensive.. I was in that fair country earlier this year and was blown away on car prices. Even the gray market cars were expensive. I was looking at a Holden Monaro a.k.a. the pontiac gto. A new one was going for 85k new.. The locals were shocked when I told them you can pick up one here for 35k new.. The majority of the car comes from australia. I wonder why it's cheaper.. The us dollar is not worth that much more than the au $... Anyhow good to see some good people from down there on this board... And ummm I'm still not leaving...

Most of the time, I think that when you sell the car, you take a loss on it and never recoup the cost of the mods made to it. So, being very financially motivated and not wanting to just continue sinking $$ in cars, I am driving my GS everyday until first snowfall (I live in CT.) and then bringing her back out in March. Its a '99 with 48,000 miles.

I do not expect to sell the GS for at least 4-5 years and may not sell it at that point and instead keep it forever. I think too many people mod the hell out of their car and spend a lot of $$ and then don;t have enough time to enjoy what they've done. Too many people just always get in the habit of constantly spending lots of $$ on cars mods. IMO they just overdo it and keep draining their financial resources. Lots of people with PHAT RIDES who don't own homes or have necessary funds for investments and retirement.

I have spent considerable amount on my GS mods over the years and have decided that I need to enjoy it and drive the thing. Bottomline, I'll be with the 2nd Gen GS boys for quite a while yet.

Next ride in 4-5 years, high-end car wih only mods being 3-piece chrome wheels (BIG *** LIPS) and drop - Thats it.

Ted
