Default SC GS Navi Question

Well here is the deal. I have a GS430 with navi, and now an SC430 with navi. Both cars are 2001. I bought the SC at an auction and it didn't have the navi DVD. I thought some wise *** stole it while all the cars stood in the lot. So I purchased the navi DVD from Sewel. Well a couple of months pass, and I found the original DVD in the trunk, hidden in a paper cd holder right above the navi-dvd unit. ****, ****, ****, ****.

Some good news though, both DVDs are the new version. My GS has the old version DVD.

My question; will the DVD from the SC work in the GS? I would think so, but the buttons on the GS and SC navi are different, and so are some of the features. I am afraid to try it out, just in case something gets screwed up in the GS, and I will be paying an insane amount to fix it.

Oh, and both the DVDs work in the SC, tried that already. So I know both are the same version and in working order.

hhahaha first of all the sc has to be a 2002 but you just got it in 01

i believe you can use the sc430 dvd on the gs430. but you can just call up sewell and check on the part number for both the gs430 and sc430 and see if they are the same?

Oops, crap the cs is 02, lol. Brain fart. I don't know where I got the 01 from. Probably the manufacture date.

I think the part numbers are the same, even the picture of the DVD is the same for both cars, with the little 9 circles in the same spot, well according to the site that is. The only thing is that the SC has different buttons on the navi, and some of the features are different inside.

What will happen if I put it in, and it doesn't work? Will I have to get a new hard-drive or someting if that happens. I hope it works. I am really itchy to try it.

ok, please don't quote me coz' i have never done this before and i don't even have nav on my gs400. there is no hdd to replace for the new nav, it's all dvd based and when you put in the new cd it just updates the internal firmware i suppose

i know my friend with 01 gs he put in a newer disc that doesn't work and he just get an error msg. he put in the old dvd and it worked fine again.

again, that's all i know, so.....

Most likely, it will give you an error message.

I say just go ask the dealer.
