Default GS430 Chrome Trunk Bar Installation

Time for another JonathanCL install thread.

Got it from Kalokb on eBay for $121 delivered (his buy-it-now price).
It's ABS plastic, as is the stock piece. Fitment is perfect because it's a Toyota part.

The bar

Remove trunk lid liner - You only need to this half way.
Remove the plastic fasteners one by one.
Remove the plate surrounding the emergency trunk release (snaps right out).
Carefully pull trunk liner over lid catch to avoid ripping.

Remove four bolts
Use a 10mm socket to remove the four bolts.
The left and two center nuts are tricky, recessed and entangled.

Remove stock bar
Push the two snap fittings through from the back.
Pull the trunk bar out; it will likely stick on the lock assembly, pull gently and steadily.
Make sure you remove the original rubber seals that may be stuck to the body; the new part comes with new seals.
If the sides of the holes show chips or scapes, touch them up to limit rust potential.

Install chrome bar
Pretty straightforward, but the lock assembly may move as you snap the new bar into place. Simply push it back into place from behind; it's held in place by the two center studs and nuts.
Hand tighten the nuts to ensure proper placement, then snug with a wrench.

Before

Sorry this is dark; I didn't realize it at the time.

After

not bad at all. IMO, you have to remove some of those rear emblems(like you did) for it too look clean like that.

Looks good man. Did you look into getting it from Carson ?

I think they are a bit cheaper on the price. Not by much though.

Looks to be a difinite mod for me. Sounds easy enough and looks great! I've seen another seller on eBay offering these for $89 BIN. Not sure what the shipping would be though.
