I just receive an email with the subject line "ClubLexus Community" asking for donation.

Did anybody receive this also? Is this legit? I don't mind making a donation to help keep the site going but their email address is mkilty@usa.net.

This concerns me because it's asking for your credit card # but it's not using encryption.

Looks very much like a hoax to me. Please beware.

hey big guy, if you look at the Forums page, you can find a link to make a donation. when i did it, it was a secured connection.

Yes, it's legit, that's Michael Kilty, who runs the board and pays for it.

As far as encryption, if you click on the link and then on the Make A Donation you go to paypal, which is encrypted. I made a donation a while back this way.

If we all make a $20 or more donation for example, it will help him a LOT. Think of how much value we've all gotten out of this board, not to mention entertainment! That's the same price as two movie tickets and only one bucket of popcorn (no sodas).

can I donate hardware ? ie hard drive, video card, memory ...?
Also, is there a minimum about to donate? I tried the link, and it's fix at $30 for the donation.

My apology for the false alarm. I use MSN/Hotmail for my email and apparently when you click on the link, it takes you to the site but within MSN's frame.

This explain why the address is an IP and there's no encryption on it.

You're right bitkahuna, I have certainly got a sleuth of information from this forum and certainly don't mind helping out Michael.

Got the e-mail this morning and sent in my donation. I agree, might get even more responses if Michael offered a range of prices (with different freebie levels).

But I certainly get more than $30 worth of information and entertainment here - and this from a guy with a completely stock GS!

I think a free pair of lexus sticker would be a real deal if that was it. Hey if we are donating money to Clublexus, maybe we should get a sticker that says we are part of the club. Just my thought.

I stepped up to the plate this morning and gave my $30 for this site. This site has been great for keeping all of us Lexus owners/drivers informed about our cars. There is no price tag for the amount of information available on this site and what I have learned about my car just from reading the daily posts. Hope everyone contributes
