could you put a Supra engine in an early GS like a 92 or 93? that would be cool if you could find a clean old GS for about $5K and drop a Supra power plant in it.

it's fairly easy to bolt on a TURBO for the older JZS147 GSs. Few members on CL have them. No VVTi means easier ECU tuning and matching I guess.

Bobcat,

A good friend of mine has the non VVT-i 2JZ-GTE in his first generation GS. The only problem is that the stock turbo setup off the 2JZ-GTE did not clear the firewall. His three options were 1) get all the necessary JDM relocation parts from Toyota overseas; 2) shorten the factory manifolds and relocate the ABS module; 3) get a single turbo kit of some sort. He chose option three and his car is SICK. He is running the HKS T04R kit, VPC, GCC-ii, EVC IV, and other fun HKS/GReddy goodies. BTW, his car looks like any other first generation GS with a weird "vacuum leak"... so be humble whenever you see a pearl white 1st gen GS in the LA/Orange County area guys.

By the way, he spent close to $15,000 on parts and labor. Believe me, the parts we get are well below retail/market price.

I would also like to know how fast that 1st gen. is.
Sounds like a beast!!

Wasn't there also a guy on CL who was in the process of doing the the supra swap for the 2nd gen.??
I think it was the guy with the black GS featured on Overboost.com.
Correct me if i'm wrong!!
I would also like to know how that is project is going.

Default ...pretty fast

Bobcat,

His car is not gutted, has a trunk enclosure, and running cheapy Kumho ECTSA Supra tires. I say it can run in the high 11's right now. I suggested to him that he get the Supra gearing to help w/ the slippage. Right now he is in the process of adding 680cc X 6 injectors and a oil cooler. His cams are not dialed yet. If YOU are reading this... get the freakin LSD and the 264 intake and exhaust cams. I'd say he will be able to run in the 10's... high 9's if he uses racing slicks. On the contrary, I am making my assumptions based on Supra TT autos with similar modifications. I hope this info helps.

Richie,
His car is not "gutted," therefore, full interior and trim. Did I mention he has a sealed enclosure?

V300, is your friend also a member of CL?

I better start saving big time for a car like that!

V300:

any dynos or drag numbers?

You said before that you're getting your numbers from your........ turbo timer? (HKS timer Type-1 I guess). Are you getting something like the APEXi RSM-GP meter so you can dyno it yourself?

Can you post your numbers again, HP or 1/4 mile or 0-60 please.

Black_IS300,
