I just heard the other day that Lexus plans to offer the new SC convertible in a base model. Does anyone know what price they will shoot for (I'm assuming $47k base) and will you be able to get ML and all that beautiful wood ?? I'm assuming they'll borrow the engine from the GS300, does anyone plan to purchase one ?

i am on a 3-4 year plan for the SC430. by then there will be a minor face-lift and a bump in hp to ~350hp. maybe it will be named sc450. the engine will also be used on the next gen GS, and a minor face-lifted LS450.

Everything I've read about the SC300 is that it's a different car based on the IS platform instead of the GS platform (as the SC430 is based). One of the car mag sites has this information somewhere, but I can't find it right now. Anyway, the general idea for the SC300 is something akin to the BMW 3-series convertible. As far as external styling, the article said nothing about whether it would favor the IS300, SC430, or something else completely.
