For what its worth, it is not abnormal for the engine to rock up on the drivers side when reving it up.......because it does so does not mean that you need new motor mounts.

That is TRUE...BUT it should only go SO far. IF you get a BUMP when you accelerate quickly from a dead stop..MAYBE you should have it diagnosed. If the mount is broken, it will separate for a split second, and the bump you hear is the sound of the upper mount striking the stop.

Normally the engine will raise somewhat, but there will be no sound either going UP or back DOWN. A broken mount will produce this sound on a rapid take off, or just a quick application and release of the accelerator pedal when the car is in gear and not moving. Maximum torque occurs when the wheels are at a standstill.

Our cars DO have a tendency to wear mounts, especially considering the amount of torque this engine produces. I also think age, and wear and tear contributes to worn/broken mounts. Power-braking for a good launch is also a BIG contributing factor.

I have 97,000 miles on my GS, and the engine rocks considerably more than it did 40,000 miles back.

I hope to have side-by-side pictures of the old and new mounts as evidence of the broken ones on my car. I am 99% sure that something is amiss on the drivers' side of my car. I will change both sides AND the transmission mount out back just in case one broken mount shifted added stress to the others.

My car have broken motor mounts too. I have it postponed more than 6 months because it cost more than $200 w/o labor. I hear the bump in a rapid start, but at idle is steady.
Not thinking to do it myself...
